A single flower petal
Falls from my hands
Slips through my fingers
Floats through the chilled night air

I walk for miles,
Only half expecting to reach my destination
I think I see you standing in the moonlight,
Run blindly into the darkness

A single flower petal
Hits the surface of the water
Ripples grow and spread in all directions,
Reach the edge of the pond

I grasp for what is not there,
Close my eyes and wish on every star I’ve ever seen
But still my arms are empty,
Holding nothing but the frozen wind

A single tear
Rolls down my cheek
Falls from the tree
Hits the water below

Still I reach for you, still I will always reach for you
After all is said and done
After all is lost
After forever has passed, has come and gone

A single life
Is tangled up in rope
Is lost among the sorrows and the stars
Slips, fades away into the cold.
